Yasmin (She/Her) grew up in the chaparral and coastal sage scrub hills of San Diego, California (Kumeyaay territory). Later, she was claimed by the mountains and lives in Colorado, (Territory of the Hinóno'éí (Arapahoe), Tséstho’e (Cheyenne), & Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute)), with her husband, two children, their dogs, and a diverse array of Wild Ones. Growing up with multicultural Mexican (paternal) + Irish/Scottish/French+African Creole(maternal) roots were foundational in her gift of navigating life between worlds, which has been a capacity interwoven with her experience as a Woman, Mother, and guide.
Yasmin has worked as a teacher bringing environmental studies and connection to inner city youth; taught environmental field studies programs from Chile to the Rocky Mountains, led family nature clubs; and facilitated women’s nature retreats. Her educational degrees include a B.S. in Anthropology + Environmental Studies, Elementary Education, M.S. Science Education, and she is a Wilderness First Responder. Yasmin is a devout apprentice to the wild, and her mentors and teachers are primarily her more-than-human guides and ancestors. She is a student of Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés’ via the Archetypal and Cross Cultural Studies Institute, and has also been guided by School of Lost Borders; Animas Valley Institute + Soulcraft practices; Dr. Sharon Blackie writer and teacher of psychology, mythology, ecology; Dr. Daniel Foor ritualist and educator of Ancestral Medicine and Animist Psychology; Christina Pratt of Last Mask Center; Gene Dilworth of Wild Heart Center for Nature & Psyche & Animas Valley; Institute Deb Matlock of Wild Rhythms; Katie Asmus of Somatic Wilderness Therapy Institute; Sweigh Spilkin of Thresholds Healing; The Work That Reconnects, Dr. Malidoma Somé, Sandra Ingerman, 8 Shields, and so many more inspiring humans living, writing, and speaking their gift.
